Citizenship skills necessary for living in a modern international society, are acquired through the subject of ’Global Learning‘. The opportunities to learn other modern languages and to develop ICT skills are offered, as well as participation in international projects. Implementation English is the language of instruction in at least five lessons a week (one lesson per day). A Native Speaker Teacher and the class teacher work closely together to teach the subject ‘Global Studies’ as a team. Another modern language is offered from 3rd grade onwards, depending on the resources available. Emphasis is placed on modern information and communication technology, as well as participation in projects concerned with Global Learning. Alternative forms of assessment are also offered. English is the language of instruction in the subject of Global Studies and is integrated through CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) across the curriculum, in all subjects apart from German literacy. Subjects such as science, maths, music or art are taught in English; however, the content matter of Global Studies lessons is also integrated into language lessons.
