Vergangenheit erinnern, Zukunft gestalten - junge Freiwillige aktiv in historisch-politischen Bildung
Start date: Aug 1, 2015,
End date: Dec 31, 2016
In the project "Remembering the past, shaping the future - young Volunteers aktiv in historical and political education" our volunteers from European programme countries (Poland and Romania) get involved with the fields of historic and political learning in the context of seminars, summer camps and international and intercultural encounters over a period of twelve months. They acquire and convey knowledge of European history and presence, in particular of the violent felonies of the 20th century and their preconditions - and the core values on which we build and continue to form the present and future Europe. They very practically campaign against exclusion and discrimination in our time and reflect on options for action that contribute to a pluralistic, participative and solidaric society. Through their service the volunteers in a practical and very concrete way support people who themselves have had to experience violence or discrimination - survivors of the national socialistic persecution or people with special needs. Furthermore the volunteers contribute knowledge and experiences from their home countries to their partners involved and also in that respect support them to gain a more differenciated knowledge on existing narratives and the social reality in the societies of their respective origin.
