Verbesserung der Unterrichtsqualität im Fach Englisch unserer inklusiven Schule im Sinne eines lebenslangen Lernens innerhalb unserer globalisierten Gesellschaft
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our one-year project aims to improve the abilities of our teachers for English in the area of the storyline concept and to encourage them to use this method in their daily classes. Our head of the competencies team, Ms Mirja Schulz, has been starting with this concept in her English classes already. The new possibilities within the English classes, which are one of the most liked classes anyway, have been adopted by the students in a very positive way. In the context of the aspect of inclusion this seems also essential to stimulate children with needs for special education in the areas of learning, language and talking as well as in the areas of emotional and social development. To realise our project we are therefore now planning to send our head of the competencies team, Ms Schulz, to the Strathclyde University in Glasgow for participation in the advanced training of "Storyline goes language teaching". With this participation we aim that Ms. Schulz consolidates and extends her knowledge she received from last year's participation in the training for "Storyline meets Storytelling". In the next schoolyear she will pass on her knowledge obtained within the framework of different internal conferences to her colleagues and she will also let her colleagues sit in on her own lectures. She will also make available to her colleagues the received material. Ms. Schulz will be responsible for the practical and logistical aspects of the project. Our school will support Ms. Schulz in any insurance matters required by law. With respect to a lifelong learning we expect a long-term improvement of our teaching quality by integrating this method in our language classes, and we also aim to apply this method in a differentiated way in our school internal curriculum. Furthermore, our head of the competencies team expects an intensive language training in dialogue with excellent authentic language speakers (such as, for example, Hannelore Tait). Also, we expect that by using the modern teaching style of "Storyline" our students will be stimulated even more to talk, will realize their improvements in this area, and will participate with high enthusiasm in our English classes. With respect to inclusion we want to have all children actively and kreatively participate in the teaching process and with it profit from an improved teaching. We are also open and interested for any further exchange or development of other international projects together with colleagues from other countries. We would like to give our colleague the opportunity to participate in an European project and with it strengthen the European dimension in our teaching. This can be achieved only when highly active colleagues are willing to participate in special trainings (at times during holiday breaks as well). Ms. Schulz is highly motivated to participate on such another special training and is willing to share her enthusiasm with her students and colleagues.
