The Nordic Youth Orchestra is a summer course that has been held in Lund every summer since 1951. The course was founded by the Swedish composer, conductor and violinist John Fernström (1897-1961) and The Nordic Youth Orchestra are proud to carry on his legacy as promoters of young people performing music and of sharing, protecting and developing a mutual cultural heritage. The participants will work every day between 09.00 a.m. and 19.00 p.m. with symphonic music, chamber music and group rehearsals under the leadership of highly qualified instructors and conductors. Artistic Director Stefan Solyom is the Artistic Director of The Nordic Youth Orchestra since 2002. He currently holds the position as “Generalmusikdirektor des Deutschen Nationaltheaters Weimar und Chefdirigent der Staatskapelle Weimar“.
