I.E.S. Conde de Aranda is the only state high school in the area of Alagón. The school also hosts students from two nearby villages , Pinseque and Remolinos. It provides secondary education, between ages of 11 and 18, including ESO (obligatory secondary education), FPB (pre-vocational training) and Bachillerato (A-levels). It caters for 434 students and with a staff of 51 teachers.Alagón is a village with a population of 7052 inhabitants, being the is located 25 kms away from Saragossa. Its main economic activity is based on agriculture and industry. The students’ financial situation is varied, being mostly low and very low. Betweem a 5 and 8% of the familes who have got an extreme economic situation are families from the gypsy community.As bieng a rural area, the educational opportunities are limited, especially all related to the foreign language learning and the possibility of open their minds to other European cultures. The main objectives this project aims are: - Improve our teachers’ linguistic and communicative competence to enable to use French and English as the language to teach non linguistic subjects.- Assure the sucess of the program POLE (Foreign Language Promotion) and its continuation in the future.- Learn new modes of teaching and - Promote language learning and spread the linguistic diversity in Europe.- Expand horizons to get a fellowship with other European Institutions.- Improve the learning of foreign languages and spread the linguistic diversity of Europe.- Widen the horizons of our Centre with Europe by fraternizing with other European Institutions.- Improve interdepartmental and interdisciplinary work through seminars and continuous training of our teachers.The participants are five teachers of the Centre. Two Foreign language teachers. One Maths teacher, One of Social Studies and one of Science. All these teachers will do a special treaning in linguistic and methodology.The aims we want to obtain are: Improve linguistic competence and methodology. Get to know other cultuter and other ways of working.The results of this proyect in our Centre will be extremely positive giving us the opportunity to become a bilingual Centre in the future.
