Uudet oppimisympäristöt
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Jun 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The new curriculum (2014) states that knowing how to use information and communication technology is one of the core skills in today’s society. Our project is designed to help us teach and develop this core skill in all age groups. The focus of this project will be on the effective use of modern virtual learning environments both in classroom and in teacher training. We will study the ways in which these learning environments will enable us to involve and activate a larger number of learners , teach them how to learn and do teamwork and how to learn 21st century skills. We are particularly interested in working methods that meet the quality criteria set for good virtual/blended learning. The staff already has fairly good technical skills and thus our interest lies in the value added that ICT can bring to our learners. We want the new ideas for the use of ICT in classroom to be pedagogically relevant and research-based. The teachers involved in the project have shown strong interest in the strategic development of our school and the use of ICT in classroom. All the teachers who have shown interest in the project are involved, no one has been left out. The courses and the conference have been chosen to cater for the needs of the different age groups and subject areas at Viikki Teacher Training School. When planning the project, we have focused on 1. how to make sure that the new ideas will be integrated in the new curriculum, 2. how to pass on the ideas to our teacher trainees, 3. how to use the network of the Finnish teacher training school to pass on the ideas outside our school, 4. how the local community might benefit from the project.
