Utlands APL
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Jul 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our goal with this project The application is made by Borlänge Community.A prioritized goal in the local plan for the Adult Education as well as in the International Strategy is to increase our external contacts. The Adult Education aims at gaining knowledge internationally, nationally, regionally and locally and to keep a good relation with the surrounding world. To reach that target, the international contacts are meant to improve and if possible increase in number through encouraging teachers and students to exchange within the different EU-programs that exist. Within our field of Health and Social Care, there aren’t so many international acquaintances, so we would like to change that.In this project we are in collaboration with Berufcollage, a school in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany. Berufcollage Castrop-Rauxel (BKCR) is a vocational school where they teach Health Care, Social Care, Trade, Administration, among other vocational courses. They have both vocational and traditional youth education as well as apprenticeship. In the project we wish to- Give eight students the opportunity to perform their internship at Evangelie Krankenhaus during four weeks. This will give them excellent prospects of knowledge, concerning professional skills as well as cultural and language understanding.- Have eight teachers from our program of Health and Social Care “job shadowing” or participating in an observation period at BKCR to learn how their apprenticeship works and how they work with students from abroad. The aim is to develop new and better forms of teaching for foreign students in particular. It will also be a good opportunity for the teachers to study how medical care in Germany works by taking part in the students’ internship during one day.
