Urban Education: Methods and success factors of political and civil education in an Urban context
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Dec 31, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

A part of the intercultural education is about learning about the surroundings. Especially in an urban setting, there are a lot of possibilities to use the surroundings to educate about civic, political and historical topics in a non-formal way. With the rise of the use of multimedia tools in the education, their is an increase of new methods in the political and civil education in an urban environment. Schoolclash eV will organise a training programme from 17th till 24th November 2014 for youth workers, involved in the non-Formal education in an Urban setting. The participants will be from the Netherlands, France, Germany and Turkey . The participants will learn, experience, discuss new methods and tools of non-formal learning in the city in order to interact with people in the city, and discover and discuss historical, civil and political aspects of the city. The goal is to collect best practices and succes factors, by creating, experiencing and discussing different methods and tools. Furthermore we strive to publish the best practices and succes factors of Urban non-formal education at least on our weblog and probably as a handbook. During the project we will work everyday around specific tools: -Use of phography and photo tasks in the non-formal urban education ; - Use of city mapping in the non-formal urban education; - Use of streetart and public interventions in the non-formal urban education; - Use of video in the non-formal urban education; - Use of ´city bound´ -methods in the non-formal urban education; -Use of sound in the non-formal Urban education;
