Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Modern methods of teaching - the use of information technology, and methods enhancing group dynamics and social skills in the classroom” was created in response to the needs of the teachers of Zespol Szkol „Silesia” in Czechowice-Dziedzice . The aim of the project was to improve the quality of education and teaching in the school by supporting professional development of the teachers so that they could enrich their teaching techniques both with methods based on modern technology and active methods for developing students’ social skills, fostering motivation to learn and encouraging them to participate in lessons. Seven teachers of different subjects (9 mobilities) with some teaching experience, motivated to develop their own pedagogical competences and enrich their teaching methods, as well as motivated to undertake further activities in the area of international cooperation took part in the project. The activities in the project were divided into three stages. The first stage was the preparation for the courses, among them language and cultural preparation and implementation in the course subject. The second stage was active participation in several international trainings and learning about the culture of the country in which the exchange takes place. The third stage was the implementation and continuation of the activities initiated at the courses. It included conducting classes using new tools and sharing experience with other employees of the school. Internationalization of knowledge and experience were carried through the creation of international projects or through work on small-scale local or school projects and dissemination of their results. The participants of the project also raised awareness within the topics of the course and maintained contacts with other course participants to enhance further development and exchange of experience. In the project, active methods such as discussion, analysis, drama, socio-drama, cooperative learning, learning through art and experience, workshops and were used. With the implementation of the project the teachers’ skills have improved. There was also an increase in their motivation to continue self- teaching and learning foreign languages. Cooperation between the teachers and the awareness of their own impact on positive atmosphere in the classroom have increased. A sense of safety and students’ confidence in their school has risen and thus their motivation to learn and attend classes has also enhanced. The implementation of European projects aimed at both professional development of the teachers and support for international mobility of the students has become a part of a long-term school policy, increasing its local importance and prestige.
