Unleash your EmploYOUthAbility
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Jul 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

It is a fact that young unemployment rate in Europe is very high. About 5 millions youngsters, under 25, are unemployed. Within the frame of our 4 organizations - which all aim at bringing mobility towards youngsters, especially youngsters with fewer opportunity - we had the clear vision that a lot of youngsters lack some basic tools, and most of all confidence, to feel at ease on the labor market. The idea came to realize a youth exchange about employability, to help youngsters with fewer opportunity to use some tools, skills and be comfortable on the day they will have a job interview. During 8 days, 16 youngsters from 4 European countries will meet in Brussels (along with their 4 youth leaders) for this Youth Exchange. All the participants, coming from Belgium, France, Spain and Italy, are considered youngsters with fewer opportunities. They face social and economic obstacles, they are unemployed (many of them for a long period of time) and come from less developed areas (industrial areas in crisis, rural areas, regions with youth unemployment rates over 50%...). This Youth Exchange objective is give tools and confidence to these youngsters, help them to realize that they are full of skills and resources they might not have think about. Show them ways to unleash their employability, just by using other methods of expression, of experiences. For this, non-formal education methods will be used: cultural workshops, workshops about entrepreneurship, sport activities, role-play about job interviews, about how they see their future, about discovering their skills etc. This is not a training, as all methods used will be in the frame of non-formal education, aiming to give them a little boost about how they see themselves. Another important aspect of this Youth Exchange is give the participants an idea of what the European Union can do for them, we will organize cultural visits linked to the project. Through this project we are seeking to address some confidence and recognition among youngsters with fewer opportunities, unemployed and often under qualified. Youngsters who may feel some discouragement regarding what they worth on the labor market. Make them realize that a lot of things can be an added value, especially the things they know to do, but that they don’t consider as skills that can be used in a professional presentation for instance. It is strongly linked to the idea of self-confidence, self-esteem and peer recognition. We also want them to get what UE can do for them, and this message will be passed through examples of youngsters, visit of some institutions, and of course non-formal activities.
