The young people and politicians whom has participated in the project '12 cities of 12 months' have initiated this 'Youth meeting 2013'. The goal is to gather all the participants (around 60 young people, 24 public official planners and 24 politicians) from the 12 participating cities at at two day long national meeting in order to share ideas, experiences and best-practice examples and to outline new guidelines and recommendations for how to include young people in planning processes in Danish cities. The meeting take place in Nyborg on the 24th and 25th of October - one month before the local elections. The planning processes are a concrete and important area were municipalities outline the goals for the development of the local area. Therefor, the aim of the meeting is to ensure a greater inclusion of young people in the local political processes. Moreover, the aim is to create greater understanding between young people, politicians and public officials in order to create easier collaboration, influence and participation for young people in planning processes and local democracy and to ensure that it's easier for young people to develop entrepreneurial projects in there cities for the benefit of young and old citizens. The Youth Meeting 2013 is placed in the intersection between cultural, political and economic discussion. Our experience is that there are a great willingness from politicians and planners to include young people in the planning and performing of local planning initiatives - and on the other hand from the young people to participate - but that new and more clear guidelines are needed in order to accomplish that goal. Therefor, the project focuses on how to develop new political channels of influence that increases the possibility space both to increase civic sense among young people and to create new developments locally despite the financially pressured situation in the municipalities today.
