Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This application is a result of experience based on placements abroad for second year pupils attending Healthcare, Childhood and Youth Development. Our pupils have before had their placements in Lithuania and England. This time we wish to apply for placement in Krakow, Poland for both groups of pupils. Our school want to motivate our pupils in order to prevent drop outs. This project will make it possible to facilitate improved quality of learning and placement, and increase the possibility for pupils to find work both in Norway as well as in other European countries. The target group is second year pupils attending Child- and youth care studies and nursing assistants. We wish to send 8 pupils and 2 teachers each year. The pupils will have their placement in a kindergarten and at different health-institutions. During the period of placement we also intend to focus on Polish culture and religion. Our school wish to offer our pupils different cultural experiencies, like visits to museums, churches, characteristic architecture, culinary traditions etc. We believe that this will make our pupils and teachers more tolerant regarding other cultures and respect for other norms and values. An experience that can be shared with collegues and other pupils at our school. Increased multicultural understanding will have a positive effect on the environment at our school. Another competence aim that will be covered is increased knowledge of languages. They will also develop communication- and cooperation skills and increase their social competence. Our school also focus on the cooperation between our two vocational lines of studies and emphasize relevant goals in these two lines of studies. We will focus a lot on communication, cultural understanding, tolerance and respect for other people's values and differencies. Before the placement pupils and teachers will prepare themselves by learning about the Polish healthsystem, kindergartens, culture and language in Poland. We wish to promote our school as a school offering Healthcare, Childhood and Youth Development as a line of study . In the longer term we also wish to recruit well qualified and motivated applicants that are suited to work in an open and multicultural Europe.
