Unemployment and youth entrepreneurship
Start date: Jan 12, 2015, End date: Aug 11, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The ErasmusPlus project entitled “Unemployment and youth entrepreneurship” was held in Messina between the 5th and 12th of May, 2015 and included 4 different students’ associations coming from Bulgaria, Estonia, Romania and Italy. Each participating association sent a delegation composed by 10 persons aged between 18 and 30 years and a team leader: the selection of participants has been realized on the base of a motivational interview, and through an analysis of the previous experiences and the practical knowledge background about entrepreneurship. The chosen arrival date (id est May, 5th) has been respected by all the participants, exception for the Romanian ones, that, because of proven travel needs, linked to the differences in flight tickets’ costs, arrived to the airport in Catania (the nearest one to Messina) on May, the 2nd. On May, the 5th, the starting date of the activities of the project, because of some participants arrivals during the night, after the accommodation in the hotel, we only planned activities aimed to the socialization of Gea Universitas’ crew members and the foreign participants. An inauguration celebration, instead, was held on the 6th of May: in this occasion Gea Universitas organized a conference in English for all the students of the University of Messina, as well as for the guest students, to advertise all the projects of international mobility. Many people took part with an intervention to the conference: first of all, Mr Andrea Celi, the president of GeaUniversitas; Miss Noemi Romano, as spokeswoman and responsible of the communications among The Italian National Youth Agency and the Gea Universitas; Miss Lucia Spicuzza, PhD candidate in Economic Sciences at the University of Messina, who briefly introduced to the guest students the town of Messina and showed further details about the planned activities; at last, Professor Maurizio Lanfranchi as the Dean delegate to projects in field of students’ mobility. In the following days, many workshop activities were held by Professors and experts in field of entrepreneurship: all the activities were finalized to stimulate the debate and the integration and comparison of every participant own experience and point of view. In order to make easier the integration and dissemination of various experiences and to push to the comparison of each “national” experience, all the participants have been divided in sub-groups. Each sub-group has been created in order to respect and provide equal national representations of all the countries participating to the project. In this way, each sub-group has been acknowledged about the national policies adopted locally about youth unemployment. After all the conferences, participants had been invited to write a draft resolution about start ups and youth entrepreneurship: through these draft resolutions, they included some suggestions and proposals to the European Commission. We planned a kind of competition among all the sub-groups that realised some introducing slides about the main key points of the written draft resolution. The winner received a prize. We also planned some recreational activities: we planned sightseeing tours of Messina and its neighbourghs (participants strongly espressed their will of visiting Taormina). During the evenings, we planned some dinners with live music and the young students have been introduced to the social contest of Messina. The guest associations planned also a dinner where they cook traditional dishes of their country.
