Ultraperificity and Economic, Social and Territorial Cohesion (UCEST)

Objective: to impel the institutional cooperation between the seven Ultraperipheral Regions (Canarias, Azores, Madeira, Guayana, Guadalupe, Martinica and Reunion), to elaborate a common and global strategy for the UPR in relation to the communitarian institutions; specially, before the process of extension of the UE to twenty-five States members, that will take place in 2004, as well as before the arrival of the new period of the Regional Policy and of European Cohesion, from 2007. With this purpose, the project UCEST tries to elaborate a technical data base able to indicate the specificities and particularitities of the ultraperiphery. This information will finally be made available to the organisms and autonomic, national and communitarian institutions in order to adapt the process of decision making to the true reality of the UPR.
