Újszerű pedagógiai és módszertani eszközök alkalmazása a NYEK-es osztályok széleskörű felkészítésében az emelt szintű nyelvi érettségire valamint a nyelvvizsgára
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our institution, Budapest X. kerületi Zrínyi Miklós Gimnázium, is situated in the tenth district of Budapest called Kőbánya. Since the foundation of our school, we have launched different kinds of classes like the ones specialized in language, public safety, IT and tourism. Adapting to the challenges of the modern era, language learning has a great importance in all types of classes: it is compulsory to learn English and another foreign language. Our grammar school has chosen the following title for the present project: ’Use of modern pedagogical amd methodological tools in preparation for the A-level Matura language examination and advanced language exams in special language classes’. The new governmental measures forced language teachers to face challenges which can be fulfilled only by using the latest methodological and pedagogical techniques. With this application we wish to support the learning mobility of three teachers of our school who teach in special language classes and have taken part in exchange and other mobility programmes before. Our school expect that these colleagues will acquire not only professional knowledge but they will develop a good relationship with other participants of the course by which we can improve our partnership. These courses in various foreign countries can also open up new perspectives for us since experiencing interculturalism, EU notions and multiculturalism can be realised only in such an environment. Two language teachers (an English and a German) and a PE teacher is involved in this project as participants. They all are experienced colleagues who are willing to take part in a mobility project and wish to renew themselves. They have participated in former programmes which had been arranged and carried out together with other foreign secondary schools. The courses they will hopefully attend meet our expectations and goals set by the school staff and management. All of them need to develop their language skills in the highest degree as it is greatly expected in these special classes that the teachers must have a high language proficiency level. Another important outcome of the Erasmus+ project for the participants and our institution will definitely be the methodological development and meeting with teachers from other countries. The description of these courses involve activities which help us reach the goals, such as developing general language skills, providing very practical teaching ideas, creative ideas for teaching grammar, techniques for teaching pronunciation, using the internet and CALL, using storytelling and drama. These institutions, however, offer activities (i.e. sightseeing, films and social programmes) for the participants that also help them explore aspects of the local culture and everyday life. Preparation for the project has been a joint task in which, after having determined the main goals, our management, the contact teacher, language teachers and also the employees of the local school district are assisting in the phase of preparation. The participants took part in meetings and trainings where the opportunities offered by Erasmus+ were highlighted. After setting the aims, we contacted the institutions in the target countries on purpose to make sure if the course activities fit our expectations. As they are programmes organised beyond this country, our school try to handle the practical and logistical matters (i.e. travel, accommodation, insurance, safety and protection of participants) very carefully. The expected outcomes of the project will be realised on various levels but the main impact from the participants will be the one on our institution: higher language skills, greater use of materials and tools, wider outlook on civilization and new partnerships that can be considered long-term possibilities for us. As an immediete outcome, we expect more varied classroom teaching, better students involvement and wider use of techniques. The outcomes will be assessed in the forthcoming academic year of 2014/2015 with the help of language teachers, other teachers working in special language classes and the headteacher. Dissemination of the project’s results will be expected for the teachers of our institution but we will also urge our colleagues to share new conceps and solutions with other teachers in our district and nationwide too.
