"Új kihívás, nagy lehetőség" - Értelmileg és tanulásban akadályozott tanulók spanyolországi szakmai gyakorlata.
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In our project 4 institutions implemented a trade practice of 3 weeks within the co-operation of a consortium in the bedding-plant garden of the Spanish APROSMO association with 10 participants. 8 of them were students with mild intellectual difficulty and 2 of them were students with moderate intellectual difficulty, learning in special vocational training. The host organization is the biggest company of the region that employs the greatest number of employees, in spite of that the majority of people working in the units of its workplace are people with intellectual disability. They have great experience and significant successes in the field of the employment of the target group. Participants came from two special vocational schools of Eger and from one school of Nyíregyháza, where they learn in the trade of gardening and park cultivation. The hosts compiled an eventful working programme for them, thus they could practice many working processes of their trade. They could do all these in a modern garden that is much bigger than their place of practice at home. They could get acquainted with the characteristics of the Mediterranean plant growing, including the cultivation of those plants that get to Hungary only through import, in the form of developed plants. In addition to the trade their social skills and personal characteristics also improved. They learnt to adapt themselves to an unfamiliar working environment and to adapt themselves to the rules of the workplace. Due to their successes their self-confidence and independence grew. Most of the participants come from families with financial difficulties, some of them were under state custody. The flight, knowing the sea, discovery of the surroundings provided many human and cultural experiences to them. The project’s aim was more than to provide new professional skills and personal experiences to the 10 participants. We wanted to achieve that this development could help them to start in the labour market competition with greater chances and to fight through the difficulties in private life easier. Furthermore, our aims were that - as a result of the successful practice, the parents and schools stand up for the emergence of their children and students more assertively, - the sending schools use the experiences obtained during the international landscape for the improvement of the quality of vocational training, - forwarding the achievements to the public and to the decision-makers shape the approach towards the acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities and their integration into work. As a result of the project, the relationship between our institution and the host organization became stronger, thus in 2016 we will implement a new project together. In 2016 from the sending schools the Göllesz Viktor vocational school of Nyíregyháza submitted a tender of vocational training mobility independently, which has been won. Participants became an example to the community of the school, the project presentations and reports made in front of the publicity of the school shed a good influence on decreasing absence and on the inclination for learning. The international experience increased the prestige of the institutions, which was demonstrated to the parents with the brochures made about the practice on the visitors’ day of the school. In Nyíregyháza the municipal local government and the local media as well as the local college of health showed an interest towards the project, which contributed to the wider presentation of the achievements.
