The students are 3rd year students from the line Language and Culture and they all take English at A level. They have been on a 3-week stay in London, one week language course and 2 weeks' work placement in British Companies/organisations. The aim of the stay was to give the students knowledge and understanding of British culture - and besides offer them the opportunity of using and improving their English skills. The students were to use the knowledge they achieved of British culture in a big written assignment on globalization they were to write once they returned to Denmark. Another important aim was to practice their English - both during their stay with British host families, at the language school and during their work placement, but also when they experienced London - e.g. when we were at the theatre - and they have improved their language skills, which has also resulted in the fact that also shy and quiet students have gained more self-confidence so they are more active in the English classes after they have returned to Denmark. Another important aim of the stay in London was to motivate the students to want to work or study abroad later.
