The founder of Zakladna skola sv. Uršule (St Ursula Elementary School) are the Ursulines of the Roman Union. The mission of Ursuline schools includes serving family, parish, school and the community where we live. After 25 years of its functioning our school wants to be a modern institution providing their pupils with conditions for the best possible development of their potential within the terms set by the European Union without giving up its benefits – friendly, family like atmosphere and the effort to understand the incomparableness of each single child. We want to offer our pupils attractive opportunities and innovative ways of learning in the fields that their parents are mostly interested in: English as a Foreign Language, Information and Communication Technologies, and Maths. We wish to make the classes of Maths, ICT and Science more interesting by employing new unconventional methods, by emphasising the connections between subjects, by project teaching but especially by employing the CLIL methodology. In classes 1 – 4 (6 – 10-year-olds) we intend to develop the basic language skills by employing games focusing on the pupils´ creativity and fantasy. For the primary teacher of English Language we have planned the course Language and Practical Methodology: Creativity in the classroom (age 3-11), will take place in Portsmouth, 7-20 August 2016, which is aimed at developing practical skills and acquaring a number of new ideas, practical demonstrations, activities and hints for working with children aged 3-11, improving language competences with an insight into primary education in &great Britain, opportunitis to share experience and arrange new contacts with the teachers from other European countries For the secondary teacher of maths and ICT we have planned the Course for Teachers who teach Science, Maths or Technical subject in English, Cheltenham, 7-20 August 2016, which is aimed to provide teachers with the opportunity to consider C.L.I.L. methodology and to acquire expertise and fresh ideas for teaching their subject in English,to acquire ready made teaching materials and to evaluate, adapt and create materials for teaching their subjects in English, also to refresh and improve their language skills, focusing on the language required to teach their subjects in English. Our aim is to increase the education quality in our school by employing alternative activating methods and by emphasizing the internationality of education. As a result we expect a rise in the number of pupils, their higher self-confidence and pride in their school. Through improving English teaching in younger classes with an emphasize on creativity and game-like activities we wish to make our school more attractive both for pupils and their parents. Employing the CLIL methodology in Maths, ICT and Chemistry classes is expected to increase motivation and to create a space for talented pupils. We expect better grades of the pupils, development of critical thinking and self-confidence, better training for further studies and career choice, increasing their chance to find a place in the society and to be successful. With teachers the gains are supposed to find inspiration by the example of the mobility participants, improving their language skills and joining the ETwinning, ErasmusPlus, KA1 and KA2 projects with their pupils.
