Start date: Dec 31, 2015, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

HATAY HALK SAGLIGI GONULLULERI is established to improve the awareness of public health by coordinating the necessary educational training, prepare courses, calculate the risks to the healthcare staff and provide them with precautions. Recently, we have observed a considerable increase in burnout cases especially in two districts of Hatay (Altinozu and Reyhanli) where the Syrian refugees are located. There are 200.000 refugees in our province with a number of 15.000 living in refugee camps. The current situation has affected almost all of our public yet especially healthcare personnel. There have also been an increase in the total number of healthcare staff. Diseases, fear of explosions and difficulties related to the language and cultural differences have had a negative effect so far. Due to such problems, burnout cases have risen amongst the healthcare staff. Consequently, both healthcare providers and receivers have suffered from the current situation. Our organisation have therefore decided to provide our members with some education about burnout syndrome and after that an intensive training shall be given to the healthcare personnel in the affected districts. The most recent approaches and therapy methods for burnout are now proven to be more efficient then ever. There are now specialised clinics, therapy and training centres abroad. Therefore, it is important to work improve our knowledge on burnout and research the recent therapy techniques. Our project team shall receive on-the-job training how to treat burnout and apply using Maslach Scale and treatment techniques (such as relaxation etc.) at a foreign institute. After that, we will be able to provide comprehensive training for the healthcare staff who are in need of up-to-date knowledge and therapy techniques. The syndrome will be diagnosed by using Maslach Scale. Our research team will then become responsible to develop and conduct a survey that finds out what may cause burnout. Using the survey results, healthcare personnel with burnout will receive training in order to develop strategies that tackle the problem. The survey results will also be reported to the public health authorities and these results will be shared with the public. In an effort to develop the most efficient therapy methods and strategies, we shall organise meetings and workshops with the healthcare authority of our province, unions and with all associates.
