The „Érted vagyunk” Special Vocational School and Special Education Methodology and Unified Institution is a young, 7 years old institution. Our pupils have mild intellectual disability, 6-23 years of age, in the vocational school 9-12. grade, computer data entry part-qualification. Through the education methodology and unified institution we provide other students int he neighboring municipalities.Currently there are 500 of our students, almost all came from disadvantaged families. In this population young people have often low motivation for finishing school. The school aims to reach them out to the professional exam and help them to find work.The profession needs the minimum knowledge of English language. From our 21 teachers there is only four who can speak English, but she learned as an autodidact, so she also needs to develop it, that’s why we send her to the course as the first step.On the other hand, the long term goals are to meet teachers on international level, to get informations and experiences about innovative and effective teaching methods. During the cuorse time will be held more trainings for teachers, too, so we will have chance to exchange experiences.Thirdly- and this is the long-term, and the most important objective of the project, and to achieve it, this course is the first step- we want to get in touch and start a common future programs that deal with similar-age pupils, and can give more ideas for us, how to prevent students from school failure, how to motivate them to get the chosen profession, and how can we help them find work.With these experiences we could expand our institution’s trainings, and we could achieve more interest among students with mild learning difficulties who are before choosing a career.This could be the assurance that our school is not only maintained, but greatly expand the number of our candidate students, which could be mutually beneficial for institutions-students alike.Cork English World language school also takes part in our project, which provides a wide range of language training for all ages and constantly participates as tender partner in EU programes.Another participant is COPE Foundation, which helps nearly 2000 childrens and adults with intellectual disabilities to live a full life.We expect from this project, living with the opportunities of the EU, we can aquire innovative, learner-centered methods and innovative items. We also planning to work together with WALK and buy a Good practice to adapt in our work.We could be more effective in teaching profession, we could prevent early school leaving, trained low basic skill-level groups we could be also more effective in social inclusion.The future cooperation with the schools of the foundation can help for our teachers to review their professional profile, and strenghtening it. Our goal is to get skills, knowledge and practical skills, which effective facilitated by the integration of young people with disabilities.In long term we plan to increase the number of our pupils, expand the supply of trainings, close co-operation with occupationals, and joint projects with foreign schools, creating exchange programs.
