Transfer of an innovative training appproach for ecological cleaning
End date: Aug 6, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The working hours, circumstances around the job (i.e. more than one job) and the design of contracts can result in a lack of awareness on hazards and risks associated with cleaning: exposure to dangerous ingredients and to hazardous substances being cleaned (i.e moulds, human waste), psychosocial issues, health problems. All of those facts speak for an increased implementation of "green (public) procurement" (as also stipulated by the European Commission with its "Action Plan for Sustainable Consumption and Production" (2008) and the naturally connected training of cleaning staff towards ecological cleaning (EC GPP Training Toolkit, Module 3).Therefore the project EcoCleaner puts emphasis on the adaptation, further development and transfer of existing innovative training curricula for cleaning staff towards "green" and safe cleaning and at the same time addressing future EcoCleaner trainers and cleaners as well as private and public employers of cleaning staff for implementation. To ensure a sustainable transfer of the EcoCleaner training to other European countries, the project will extensively cooperate with providers of further education / vocational training, representing organisation of the cleaning sector and unemployment services within the framework of the networking and dissemination work packages (WP.6, 7 and 9).The project will work on an EcoCleaner curriculum based on existing consortium partners' curricula with an innovative approach towards "green" cleaning (WP.2+3), the connected teaching and learning material (WP.4), a train-the-trainer model (WP.5) and 2 pilot courses including testing on the job (WP.8). The project will be accompanied by an internal evaluation after pilot phase 1 and an external mid-term and final evaluation in order to ensure EcoCleaner's quality and sustainability (WP.10).
