Transeuropeans together for democracy
Start date: Dec 5, 2011,

This project will build a network of young individuals from 8 different European countries meeting regularly to discuss various aspects of democracy in Europe, and decide on common actions, initiatives, and public events to promote democracy in Europe. This network will organise several events across Europe, including working towards the TRANSEUROPA Festival 2012, run by European Alternatives each May. The network will function like a 'youth think tank' publishing policy recommendations on the basis of consultation with experts. As such the project promotes young people taking a more active role in European democracy. The project involves 48 people who will meet regularly in small groups to work in a focussed manner together. It promotes the development of a youth ‘civil society’ in European affairs and will see its natural conclusion in the organization of the Festival 2012, which will be responsibility of the groups of young individuals. The young individuals taking part in this project will organise several local public activities in their own cities, as well as international public events. The key thematic is democracy and it will be analysed through 5 specific areas:-youth unemployment-Migration-Media Freedom and Pluralism-Environment-Civil RightsThe project will involve 10 meetings amongst small groups of young people and partner organisations which will take place in London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Cluj and Sofia
