TransCONVER - Training and Guidance Module for Local Coal Conversion Partnerships in Enlarging Europe

The aim of this project is to guide the regeneration of local communities in former industrial regions in the Central and Eastern European accession countries. Based on an earlier PHARE project, TransCONVER will set up 'Local Coal Conversion Partnerships' to promote cooperation between the regions and communities. This project will produce training and guidance modules for the development of the partnership profile and methodology. The profile should include:° the promotion of vocational training products, tools methods and approaches, including training for trainers and guidance counsellors° support for the creation of transnational vocational networksdesigning, testing and validating of new approaches to vocational training in the context of lifelong learning so as to ensure flexibility for future training Products produced will include a guidance module for local conversion partnerships, a virtual coal web site and an evaluation kit for the training module. The primary target groups are the interdisciplinary local manager level, to include local politicians, managers and directors, and educational and training practitioners. The project is also intended for designers and developers of conversion strategies. A handbook with the methodology, results, instruments obtained and conclusions drawn from joint analysis will be presented in CD-ROM format to be disseminated in the partner counties.
