Transatlantic Youth. Challenging cultural icebergs
Start date: Apr 1, 2013,

"Transatlantic Youth: Challenging cultural iceberg" is a 20 months project that involved 8 youngsters from Italy and United Kingdom that will support the NGOs SKIP (Supporting Kids in Peru) in Trujillo and Interlink Uruguay in Montevideo. The project aim to help the local communities through the empowerment of the education support for children and youngsters. The cultural icebergs are still really strong and powerfull among the different cultures, where most of the people, especially the disavantaged ones, don't have any access to media and even less opportunities to get in touch with different cultures and people with different background. The volunteer using innovative methodologies (like non formal education tools) and creativity will create lessons and workshops for children and youngsters that will help them to develop a intercultural sense and to discover their talents. The volunteers will transfer their knowledge and skills (languages, IT competences, art and crafts). The project aim also to let discover to the volunteers a different perception of the world and different ways of life, that willhelp them to create a new perception and understanding of the intercultural exchange. The sense of solidarity, friendship and equality, that the project promote and develop, are brave sailors crossing the ocean that no cultural iceberg can stop.
