Trans-Acting

‘Trans-Acting’ is founded on a dual conviction: that real language learning is a creative and self-actualising process, part of holistic personality development; and that mastering the tools and media of an art or craft is analogous to acquiring a language’s vocabulary and structures. Conversely, we believe that appreciating and practising ‘foreign’ arts and crafts in their ‘home’ language is more authentic and thus more intense. We shall conflate these essentially human activities into holistic learning experiences: Language teachers, art/craft practitioners and learners will co-devise, implement, compare and evaluate ways of teaching and learning languages through creative and cultural endeavour in a foreign language environment. We shall consider the relationship between art/craft practitioners and learners, and its implications for conventional teaching and learning, implementing conclusions in our institutions’ methodologies. We shall promote creative teaching and learning, and enhance the everyday lives and pan-European cultural awareness of all participants: learners, teachers, practitioners and coordinators. We shall prepare cultural encounters for our international meetings, and integrate these experiences in local activities.Partners will address Grundtvig’s specific and operational objectives: *responding to the educational challenge of ageing populations, *providing pathways to improving adults’ knowledge and competences, *improving the quality and volume of cooperation, *developing learning opportunities for vulnerable groups and *transferring innovation, especially in andragogy.
