First, in our teaching team we have been thinking about how taking care of children difficulties to learn. Teachers have made it one of their priority of their school project. During a first visit, in Edale Rise school, teachers have noticed very interesting teaching methods when dealing with children difficulties. As a part of their school project, teachers at the Chene Vert school have wished going deeply into the knowledge and the analysis of teaching approaches, assessment and measures taken by British school to deal with children difficulties. The goal would be to adapt some of these measures to their own school organisation. The effect expected of this main line of the school project is a decrease of school failure through a better support of children difficulties and consequently an improvement of the performance of the pupils at the end of primary school. Our second main line aims to increase the teaching quality of English in our school and this improvement has to come from a good knowledge of the langage by every member of the teaching team. However, some of them are not fluent enough to be able to teach english properly. Thus, two of them have felt a need to learn in immersion. Besides, teaching quality also exists through the pupils’ motivation and involvment : the twinning and the exchanges are a good tool we have to keep on developing. The effect expected of this training is the improvement of English skills of the teachers in order to let all the pupils obtain their A1 level in English at the end of primary school. The whole project also recovers a European dimension thanks to the exchange and the sharing of different teaching methods and approaches in order to prevent and reduce school failure. As far as our pupils are concerned, it must enable them to meet another culture and to be more open minded towards Europe. In so doing, children can understand that a language is not a pure class theory but it’s above all a wonderful door opener to communicate with one another in many circumstances. Giving meaning to learning is also the best guarantee of success !
