Trainees on the move - Interkulturelle Kompetenz durch Auslandspraktika
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

International contacts only played a minor role at the BBS Handel until three years ago in 2013 a team of teachers started to work on an international strategy. A poolproject run by KulturLife was met with great interest from students and teachers alike and it soon became clear that enlarging the international focus with respective projects is the way to go. Being an institution that offers vocational education and training we are focussing on enabeling students to spend some time on a work experience programme abroad. We found a suitable project partner in Málaga/Spain which brings in some experience with Erasmus+ projects and there are further prospective partners for work experience projects in negotiation. The European mobility is to become a fixed component in our school programme, adding to our attractive and modern school profile. Our objective is to become an internationally operating vocational training center in Hanover conveying international professional skills. This engagement supports for example one of the guiding principles of the BBS Handel: "School without racism, school with courage". Open-mindedness and tolerance in many facets is to become part of everyday school-life. In addition participants in the project are to profit from broadening their professional competence as well as their knowledge of the European working environment. The target group of the project are trainees in business administration in their second year of vocational education as well as participants in our additional qualification "European clerk". The project we are planning is a four week work experience in Málaga, Spain for the trainees. Furthermore, the project is directed at teachers who are involved in the project in order to consolidate and develop the partnership.
