Trainees compare work processes in Germany, Great Britain and Spain

Our vocational training "Kauffrau / Kaufmann für internationale Geschäftsbeziehungen" (International Business Manager) addresses post A-level trainees with good and very good school grades and will focus on international economy, business and management, legal issues, book-keeping and communication. We aim to provide our students not only with the necessary key competences to participate actively in the European labour market but also with vital social skills to improve their personal development. We plan to have 16 students in our class. We offer this vocational training because we intend to strengthen the employability of young people and to facilitate their transition to the labour market. It will improve our students' learning performance and their sense of initiative and entrepreneurship. Tuition will be in German, English, French and Spanish, as we want to enhance the participants’ foreign language competences as well as their awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries. During the vocational training students will be able to acquire the certificate "Fremdsprachenkorrespondent Englisch" at the IHK in Dresden. The training will consist of theoretical instruction and practical periods. The practical periods will take place in Germany (7 months), Great Britain (3 months) and Spain (2 months). Students will have a lot of cooperation opportunities and will get to know working environments and processes in companies in these three countries. The students will be hosted at a workplace (either in an enterprise or an organization). We make sure that the mobility periods abroad fit well with the course in general and will notably improve the participants' foreign language competences and enhance their cultural awareness. The main objective of the working periods abroad is to make students familiar with administration systems, structures and processes in the receiving countries. We want them to compare different ways of working and living and to formulate their individual approch to issues and challenges in their working context. Our objective is to offer our participants the opportunity to build networks of international contacts. They will also find out about cultural diversities and traditions and certainly develop a sense of European citizenship and identity. We also expect them to apply their knowledge from the theoretical phases of the training into the practical working environments in Great Britain and Spain. After their mobility period abroad, they will be able to optimize administrative processes and to work more efficiently. In general, we expect our students to show increased self-empowerment and self-esteem, to participate more actively in society, to be more competitive and to show more mobility. As regards staff, we expect a better understanding of practices, policies and systems in education and training in Europe as well as a greater responsiveness to social, linguistic and cultural diversity. We also hope that our teachers can improve their work and activities in favour of our apprentices and to promote mobility activities for learners to come. We are planning to develop more appropriate assessment and certification methods, based on the learning outcomes. The representatives of Dr. Hirsch Akademie as an organisation are planning to increase their capacity to operate at an international level and to foster cooperation with partners from other countries. We would also like to expand our knowledge and expertise regarding the preparation, implementation, monitoring and follow up of projects.
