Traditional Crafts and Arts for Promoting Entrepreneurship and Tourism along Kurshi Coastline of the Baltic Sea (Craft on Baltic Coast)

Due to development of mass manufacturingtechnologies, craft industry has lost itsimportance in Latvian and Lithuanianeconomies. However, there are stillcraftsmen and applied artists eager to usetheir talent and specific approach to work, traditions and knowledge inhabited fromtheir ancestors.The project promotes development of craftindustry in Kurzeme (LV) and Klaipėda (LT)regions, thus also contributing to tourismdevelopment and culture heritagepreservation in the respective regions.The expected project results are:opportunities created for craftsmen andapplied artists to sell their goods and obtaininformation and training in Ventspils andKlaipėda; competitiveness of craftsmenand applied artists from both regions raised;experience transfer; traditional Kurshi craftand art goods promoted in Latvian andLithuanian markets; new sights and eventsbased on traditional Kurshi craft createdand interest of the society and tourists intraditional Kurshi art increased.
