Towards a Multilingual European School
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school is the only one educational center in the village. It is located in a rural area, so it is difficult to find opportunities like the one Erasmus Plus offers. Most of us teachers want to participate in different formative actions that aim at an improvement of the communicative competence in English. This is mainly due to the fact that the Education Law tells us it is necessary to teach a non-linguistic subject in English besides the actual English class in pre-primary and primary levels. Probably they are the Physical Education Teacher and/or the Artistic Education Teachers. The participants in this project are the permanent teachers in our school so this is an extra point of quality for this project in relation of its continuity. Currently, we are attending an English conversation course, which falls inside the Annual Plan of Formation, in order to prepare ourselves for the Erasmus Project, proving the interest we have in the English language. Personally some teachers are been taught in the Official Language School in A2, B1 and B2 levels of English. We have planned activities such as two English courses, the first one being related to linguistic competence and the second one related to the CLIL methodology; the third one is a structured course about the Finnish Education System to learn from their successful methods and then be able to implement them in our school. The objectives we have proposed are : -Being in a permanent formation. -Improving the English competencies of the teachers. -Increasing the quality and efficiency of the education using the CLIL methodology. -Exchanging materials and experiences with teachers from Europe. -Knowing new innovative methodologies. -Promoting the European values of citizenship across all members of the educative community: the teaching staff, the student body, their families, the town council and our neighborhood. -Respecting the diversity of the diferents countries on the EU. We expect an improvement in the results of the teaching-learning process as a consequence of this formation, not only in linguistic subjects but in the overall quality of our work at school. On the other hand, we strive for the European dimension to be present in all of the areas and stages of the pre-primary and primary school, and also for it to be a distinguishing mark of our student center, making it different with respect to other schools in the area. It will be our commitment to share what we will learn in this project across different means like the local and regional newspapers, the school website and blog with some open activies like talks, exhibitions and the Europe Day celebration. We hope that our whole educational community will benefit from this. Finally , we wish that after the successful experience we had in the eTwining and the Comenius projects, the participation in the Erasmus+ KA1 action enables us to take part in future KA2 actions, thanks to the new contacts we will acquire over the next two years.
