The teaching team wished and felt the need to improve foreign language teaching within the school, about linguistic skills of teachers (especially oral understanding and spoken language), the renewing of teaching tools, methods and organization, the discovery of new ways of working. Moreover, our school needs to open up on Europe to develop communication, using cultural and authentic items and correspondence (e-twinning). We need a training to be able to lead this kind of action, in a way that is lasting, organized, useful, broadened and sustainable. That is why we choosed to create a school project to improve linguistic skills of the pupils, to ease their fears of practicing a foreign language, to waken and to develop their feeling of belonging to an European community. The project is based on the daily life of a European child : his family life, his schooling, his education, his typical day, his food, his hobbies. The two volunteers to the mobility project are teachers in elementary school and both are certified to be able to teach English language. Last year, the presence of two English teachers was the starting point of the realization of the lack of European opening of the school, of the wish to develop it and of the mobility project. The expected impact of the project on the teachers is the acquisition, the development, the reinforcing and the transmission to the teaching team of the skills acquired during the mobility project : - linguistic skills ; - methodology and teaching organization ; - cultural opening on Europe ; - constitution of greater resources for the whole teaching team and more varied, authentic, interactive and efficient teaching tools ; - improvement of professionnal development while favouring personal development. On the pupils, the expected impact is improvement of the ability to speak and write English, to benefit from more authentic learning (tools) and a real communication through lasting correspondence, and a desire to discover new European countries. On the long term, the school will be known by the primary and secondary schools in the proximity, by the parents, by the municipality, as being opened on Europe and able to encourage in every pupil, linguistic skills, the enjoyment of speaking wih foreigners, and a strong sense of being a European citizen.
