Together we can make a difference!
Start date: Dec 1, 2011,

The cooperation between the Belgian – South African non-profit organisation Born in Africa and Plantijn Hogeschool is a European volunteer project (EVS). The project will take place in Plettenberg Bay and its surrounding townships (South Africa) with support of the Belgian university college Plantijn Hogeschool. It will last for 12 months and we will have one volunteer in South Africa, namely Lotte Van Buyten. The volunteer Lotte will assist in a school in a township, to give children with fewer opportunities better changes for a good future. These children have fewer opportunities because of social background, mental or fysical dissabilities and lower social-economical status. Furthermore she will assist in swimming, computer and reading lessons. This way we try to tackle the problems of discrimination. Lotte will have possibilities to create own programs so the local children can benefit from her background and education. This can help not only the children, but also the organisation Born in Africa and the staff from the schools in the townships. The objective of the project is to give volunteers the possibility to interact with people from a different culture and try to transfer some ideas or methods to the local community without affecting the existing ideas of the community in a negative way. But the volunteer can also learn new ideas. The idea is to create an exchance of ideas and methods.
