Together towards Social Inclusion
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Dec 16, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Of all the disadvantaged groups in society, the disabled people are most socially excluded. With this project we are aiming to change stereotypes and include the disadvantaged group into the society. For that we let the volunteers to be involved in the project to learn and practice work with disabled people. The project Together towards Social Inclusion gives an opportunity for the youth to take their life into their own hands and bring changes not only for themselves but also to broader society. As in many European countries youth unemployment has become a serious issue. This project aims especially to promote EVS among unemployed youth during the project and also after volunteers’ return in their home country. The main objective of the project is to give an opportunity for the youth from different countries to gain skills in different country and through this they will bring a change into their own life as well as to the people they will work with. With their active participation volunteers will help local people in difficult situations to adapt into society and encourage them to stay active. This project aims also to bring into society the element of intercultural learning, promoting tolerance and fighting stereotypes and prejudices. The project set up is a good chance for all participants to learn the differences in cultures and to see the common values we all share. All receiving organisations give enough space for the volunteers to propose and run their initiatives from very beginning until the evaluation phase. It surely raises young people's activness, entrepreneurship and creative thinking. Through this project, young people can gain knowledge, exercise skills and extend their social networks, which will lead them to new or better employment opportunities, as well as personal and social development. Four volunteers from France, Germany, Moldova and Armenia are invited to join EVS project in Estonia, to give their support and bring innovative ideas into different social and educational atmosphere. The volunteers will have their voluntary service at Perekodu SA, Imastu Residential School, Ida-Virumaa County's chamber of Disabled People and Laagna Lasteaed-Põhikool. Finally, this project aims at promoting and developing voluntary work among young volunteers and the Estonian people.
