The main objective of the Project is increasing safety of the Polish-Ukrainian border and border region. The feeling of safety is one of the most important human needs, that is why the institutional mechanisms are elaborated and the cooperation network are developed between the law enforcement agencies of both countries. Fighting the organized crime, smuggling or illegal immigration requires cooperation of the neighbouring countries, mutual exchange of information about possible threats, technical support and coordination of activities. The activities realised within the project: training workshops, purchase of specialized cars, elaboration and publishing of the brochure concerning cross border crime and procedures, including gathering evidence during common realization of the case, elaboration of the final report containing suggestions and conclusions in the scope of fighting crossborder crime (organized crime, human trafficking, smuggling, illegal immigration) will enable to increase the safety level in the territory of lubelskie voivodship and Volyn district. The purchase of the specialised cars – off-road passenger cars with equipment adapted to operate in the inaccessible terrain will contribute to the improvement of the equipment possessed by the units operating in the borderline area. Expected Results: The results of the project are as follows - 1 cooperation network between the Regional Police Headquarters in Lublin and Department of MIA of Ukraine in Volyn district for preventing and fighting organised crime and smuggling- Number of Police/Militia units where the improvement concerning the specialist equipment influencing the speed and effectiveness of the undertaken activities for preventing and fighting crime took place – 10 Police units in lubelski garrison/19 units in Volyn district,- Number of officers who improved their knowledge in the domain of preventing and fighting crime in the crossoborder area of Poland and Ukraine – 130 officers- 42 off-road passenger cars with specialist equipment for Lublin Police- 38 off-road passenger cars with specialist equipment for Ukrainian Militia in Volyn district - 25 cars type SUV for Police units of lubelskie voivodship- Number of training workshops in the scope of preventing and fighting different forms of cross-border crime -2; - number of summing up conferences – 1;- number of officers taking part in the workshops in the scope of preventing and fighting different forms of cross-border crime – 130;- number of officers taking part in the summing up conference – 100.- Number of people to whom the brochures concerning cross-border crime and procedures, including gathering evidence during common realisation of the case are handed over - 1000Number of people to whom the final report containing suggestions and conclusions in the scope of fighting cross-border crime (organised crime, human trafficking, smuggling, illegal immigration) was handed over – 400
