Today’s special: Europe
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Feb 29, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

„Today’s special: Europe” was an educational – cultural project. The main purpose of the project was the integration of youth from all over the Europe, building their identity as a young Europeans – members of the community, which is diverse, but striving for common goals and creating their own social awareness. The main topic of the project was a culinary heritage of participating European countries. It is widely known that national cuisine is one of the most vital elements of the countries’ culture and traditions, but also reflects a history of the people. That's the reason of creating workshops about regional culinary traditions. These workshops had included common cooking of meals from various parts of the Old Continent. The other intended project's activities included presentations of flagship food products of participants’ countries, discussions about an origin of national cuisines, their similarities and differences, as well as common roots of the European customs. Meetings at the one table allowed to break social barriers, open participants on new cultures and build the identity of group. The project also had included workshops about ecological food and social problems connected with the nutritional economy, e.g. hunger in Europe or food versus health. Our long-term benefit of our project is primarily to use the skills acquired by the participants during the project for conducting activities in their local communities. The result of the project is to strengthen tolerance and openness for other cultures. 84 people from 6 countries will participate in the project. They will be from Poland and partner countries: Bulgaria, Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia and Italy. All participants are young people between 18 and 30 years old (the exception can be leaders and their age could be higher than 30). Among the participants will be people in difficult social and/or economical situation.
