Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main aim of our action plan is the professional development of a group of teachers including the Head of the school in the field of modern teaching methodologies. The ultimate purpose of this plan is to transform these teachers into mentors who will help the school to form a modern identity in a new era. Our school aims at educating our students in such a way that they will be able to cope with the challenges of the twentieth century. Consequently, the main objectives of our action plan can be summarized as follows: a. For the school staff to be able to implement modern methodologies of teaching, namely the inquiry-based learning, the content and language integrated learning (CLIL), the technology integrated instruction and the collaborative learning 2. to develop a culture of cooperation among teachers 3.to expand our possibilities of builing coperations with european educational organisations. For the realisation of our plan we cooperated with two educational organisations the Direcció General d'Ordenació, Innovació I Formació Professional. Conselleria d'Educació, Cultura i Universitats in Mallorca, Spain and the Universite De Franche Comte Centre de Linguistique Appliquee (CLA) in Besancon, France which had great experience in the organisation of training courses for teachers in the domains of our interest. Three teachers participated in the project, three language teachers including the Head of the school all of whom were chosen for their strong motivation for professional development and their commitment to their work. They are all fluent speakers of two languages and keen on technology. They are willing to participate in teacher training activities so as to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible. The action plan included three learning activities. The first activity was associated with the CLIL methodology and the other two activities concerned the integration of ICT in teaching. More specifically the first activity included the participation in the European conference "At the CORE of CLIL" and in the training course "CORE-Simply the best COuRsE". The other two activities included the participation in a two week training course for teachers which included modules on the integration of ICT in teaching and forums. The results of our action plan were absolutely significant not only for the participants but also for all the members of our school community. The participant in the first activity acquired knowledge on the CLIL methodology, how to design and develop CLIL lesson plans, how to assess learners with a view to learning, how to integrate technologies in her lessons. The participants in the second and third activity learned how to motivate students and enrich their lessons with the use of images and videos, they improved their skills in designing their lessons with the help of the smart board and enrich their practices with multimedia resources. In addition they developed their skills in promoting cooperative and inquiry-based learning as this is how they worked during their training. Finally, they improved their social, organisational and cooperative skills and their language competence in English and French. In general, the teachers who participated in the activities described above, returned with very good impressions and shared their experiences and their enhtusiasm with their colleagues not only in our school but also with teachers in other schools. As a consequence, we believe that more teachers will be willing to participate in similar projects in the future and take advantage of the benefits that Erasmus+ KA1 offers.
