The project entitled "To establish communities based on plum, the treasure of Szatmar region" wishes to contribute greatly to the implementation of the objectives of Hungary-Romania Cross -border Co-operation Programme 2007-2013; such objectives include to strengthen mainly the social and economic cohesion in the borderline region with special emphasis on the Hungarian and Romanian sides of Szatmar region. The project intends to strengthen the cooperation between the communities on the basis of the joint treasure, the plum of Szatmar with the implementation of several interconnecting activities. At the same time it wishes to facilitate the maintenance of traditions by organising new types of cultural events, the mutual understanding and maintenance of the traditions. It considers important to maintain the joint bilateral cultural heritage, the regional identity, and to find and develop the traditions and values. It intends to contribute to these objectives by facilitating the promotion of the joint and bilateral heritage in the borderline region.The general objective of the project is strengthen the cooperation between the communities on the basis of the joint treasure, the plum of SzatmarTarget groups: local communities and non-governmental organizations from both sides of the border; fruit producing farmers, with special emphasis on the plum producing; people and small local communities that maintain the region's gastronomy with care.The main specific activities of the project and results are: Plum event on the Hungarian side; Plum event on the Romanian side - Cross-border partner; Printing 1000 pieces brochure with the folk traditions. The events had 5,000 visitors.
