TISEC in Europe or Taking Innovative Skills and Exchanging Competences in Europe
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project TISEC in Europe - Taking Innovative Skills and Exchanging Competences in Europe – consists in allowing 12 students in Terminal Baccalauréat Professionnel in Plumbing, Installing water, heating and cooling systems to perform in January-February 2015 their period of compulsory work placement to complete their training in a European company. This project aims at reinforcing the acquisition of cultural, social and professional skills necessary to achieve their diploma and to facilitate their integration into the world of work. This project is particularly ambitious as regard the public welcomed in our school. Largely from disadvantaged backgrounds, our students have obvious abilities unfortunately hampered by a lack of motivation and self-confidence and in their future careers, which weakens the acquisition of multidisciplinary skills necessary for graduation. We want to remobilize our students around a new transversal motivating project that will give a real meaning to their educational training and represent a gain on the labor market. Long observing a greater commitment of our students during their work placement, the development of a Leonardo project was clearly the solution. Our partner, the Canterbury College will receive our students during a week for 20 hours of educational, linguistic and cultural preparation in the morning. Then, in the afternoon, our students will work in plumbing workshops alongside English students. Then they will realize their work placement period of three weeks in a company based in Canterbury. They will be accommodated in English hosting families and will thus be immersed in the Anglo-Saxon culture. Meanwhile, a program of cultural visits is scheduled to enrich their cultural and historical knowledge of the UK and better understand cultural differences. After this experience the participants will receive the Europass Mobility certificate and present the Europro Certificate. A film will be produced to promote this project inside and outside the school. The assessment will be conducted with all the stakeholders (participants, accompanying staff, partners, ...) to provide any necessary remediation.
