Time Travellers - the European Perspective

Discrimination, exclusion, xenophobia and racism are also in 21st century reality in our everyday life; there are unfortunately many examples, just looking at the daily headlines in all European newspapers of the last decade. Migration because of many different reasons are a reality in Europe nowadays. Encountering the foreigners is not for all citizens easy and the results are visible. But not only now, but also in the past Europe has been facing with Migration and had own ways for how to deal with it. Therefore the particpiants of this Youth Exchange will travel back in time and have a look on Europe a few centuries ago. What have been reasons for migration then and how dead each coutnry deal with it back then. Together there will be made a comparison to nowadays and see how we can rise awareness for antidiscrimination work with reminding the history. The Youth Exchange aims to encourage the participation of young people in public life, to facilitate the achievement of their potential as active and responsible European citizens and to make them active against xenophobic and racist tensions in their local communities and in Europe. Intense dealing with the history of migration and the reasons, mechanisms and results of xenophobia and racism tensions as well as thinking and acting as responsible European citizen against these tendencies will help to overcome disrimination and exclusion sustainably. The planned activities are encouraging young peoples awareness and commitment to tackle these issues for a more inclusive society – in their home communities as well as on European level. The Youth Exchange "Time Travellers – The European Perspective" will bring young people from 6 different countries together. From 19. to 28.09.2014 they will meet in Potsdam, Germany.
