The 5th Gymnasium of Kavala is a modern school, with experienced professors that uses varied teaching methods and pedagogical practices. It puts great emphasis on integrating new technologies in educational process, on enhancing the communication between teacher - student, on providing individualised teaching and generally on improving the quality of the provided knowledge.This proposal constitutes the first attempt of our school to implement a development plan with a view on becoming a European school, with modern, high quality administrative and didactical procedures and methodologies, a school role model for Kavala and the wider region.The submitted action plan previews the mobility of 3 teachers in order to attend the structured training course «Best Practices Benchmarking», from 9 to 15/10/2016, provided by the Finnish educational organization Euneos. Goal of the action plan is to train key staff members in subjects of direct interest for our school and in this way to set a ground base for the realisation of further objectives of our development plan.The seminar lasts 7 days and includes a combination of theoretical training with elements of job shadowing through visits to schools and educational centers in Finland and Estonia, where our teachers will participate in everyday educational processes.The seminar is based in 6 main subjects:1. Innovation. School development plans. European challenge. Standing structures of innovation.2. Management. Local examples.3. Transition from non-digital to digital. Mobile learning. Digital materials. Tablets in education.4. Student in the center. Support system & supportive methods. Integration of special needs students. Home & school connections.5. Teacher in the center. New approaches of in-service training. Learning agents.6. Internationalisation. European dimension. PISA survey. Erasmus+ mobilities.Finland, where the proposed education mainly takes place, is known worldwide for its educational system and methods, so the possibility offered to our teachers to observe and learn how they organize and implement teaching, as well as which are the study and learning processes in Finnish schools is extremely useful.The expected learning outcomes for our teachers will be the following:− How to support school management and colleagues to make the curriculum more European and innovative oriented − How to coach colleagues in innovative activities and how to make students and colleagues enthusiastic − How to design new innovative project scenarios and project activities− How to develop a vision on innovative cooperation together with the relevant groups in the school, how to link the mission of the school to the goals of innovation− How to gear these goals to short and long term policy measures, such as systematic approach to innovation in different areas of school practices, plan for acquisition of equipment, software and training, schedule for implementing different things in school development plan.− How to evaluate the innovative activities and the European dimension (key competences) in the curriculum: challenges of digital transition, new demands of students’ competences, world of work, − How to disseminate the activities and products/methods− How to use appropriate methods and tools to evaluate the projects− How to manage and coordinate innovative projects (social, innovative skills) − How to learn the technical know-how of relevant ICT devices and how to integrate the appropriate web tools in the innovative projects− How to collect information about the subsidy channels, programmes and Quality Assessment criteria (both national and European) − How to design and write an application under Erasmus+Ensuring the efficiency of the training will be a common task of both the educational provider and our school and will include:- Assessment of the course from participating teachers- Assessment by the educational provider of the knowledge and skills acquired by the participants.- Assessment from our school teachers, guardians, professors other schools and local actors, through the diffusion meetings that we will organise.The expected impact of the project will affect the teachers that will participate in the training (upgrading of knowledge, competencies and skills in the themes of the seminar), the school (introduction new approaches in education of students, transmission of acquired knowledge to others teachers, contacts and cooperation with other schools, European developemnt) and pupils (more modern, innovative, collaborative and effective courses, more adapted to the interests of the students, networking opportunities with schools students abroad).
