'The World is my Country: The Human Family my Tribe'
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Mar 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

'The World is my Country: The Human Family my Tribe' is an effective project that brings 31 committed youth workers/leaders from 6 European organisations who work with migrant youth and who would like to attain greater competences in migration related subjects, and gain knowledge in how to play an important role in every community, where they will be capable to provide these youth support, advice about their current lives and future pathways and the chance to develop skills and make friends. They would also help give rise to friendly youth groups, which do not isolate, but rather integrate these youth with the others because after all, being a migrant is nothing to be ashamed of. Youth workers are a vital resource for these young people, giving them access to information and support in a correct and healthy manner, that they may not be able to get anywhere else and without being discriminated. Therefore, the objectives of this project is to increase participative positions of youth in society as an active emerging force, aiming at responding to different forms of discrimination based on migration. This will strengthen and consolidate the work undertaken where each party remains true to their own background while respecting the right of the other. This attitude will install mutual understanding and respect that allows young people to live and cooperate with each other in spite of their differences. It will include human interaction and relationships, taking place between individuals and communities, and on many levels; neighbours, schools, youth spaces, places of work etc. It can take place in both informal and non formal settings being part of daily life during which different migrant groups interact with each other directly, and where tensions between them are the most tangible. Other objectives is to provide a space for the participants to share their expertise and experience at a European level and present tools and approaches to deal with youngsters who are being excluded for one thing or another. In addition, the project aims at providing a platform for discussion between the participants, based on theoretical and practical inputs around the theme which is relevant to work with these groups. The good practices and new methods that will prove effective will be integrated into the participants activities. The tools and approaches shared would be adopted by all groups and disseminated through best practices applied with this given group; through adaptability and applicability of working methods used; effective learning outcomes; contact details of partner organisations and project blog links. All the participants would learn to understand the need of these youth, and shape behavioral health messages accordingly, and consequently they might be capable to form their own training activities locally and coordinate regional networking and capacity building summits for youth migrants. All activities will be safe and appropriate for all the participants involved and through a combination of methodology sessions, case studies, workshops, practical activities in the field, we will examine the critical role of youth spaces/centres in helping migrants in their process of settlement. Participants will get an insight into a range of issues affecting migrant youth and explore ways to address the multitude of barriers they may face. This training course uses a wide variety of communicative activities to develop language competence as well as introducing practical and creative ideas to provide assistance which is the most needed. The methodology will be diverse and the working tools will vary from individual exercises, through group activities and lectures to visits and outdoor activities. A longer term benefit would be to coordinate another Erasmus plus programme with the objective to describe and analyse the main characteristics of different categories of migrants, with a special focus on background and development aspects, taking into account forced migration and labour migration.
