The vision of Europe-realized step by step
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "The vision of Europe - realized step by step" considers the European voluntary service as a direct consequence of a realisation of the vision of Europe. Especially with regard to the current political situation in the European Union, it is important for us to refocus on the basic European values. With the project and with the help of the European Voluntary Service, we would like to highlight the advantages of a European policy of openness, of cultural interest and of intercultural exchange; youth work, among others, is a key factor in shaping the civil society. Youth work doesn't stop at borders, it crosses them and is nourrished by international contacts and partnerships. Two volunteers will take part in the project: one from Belarus, the other from Ukraine. Both have a lot of experience in youth work and participated in several international projects in the past. They will especially be involved in the development of our partnership with the YMCA Brest. Furthermore, they will help to design a concept for this and support the necessary communication.Second: in order to make the European idea visible, they will participate in our continuous and unique youth work, in which children and youth clubs of the church district Öhringen play an important role. They will present their countries of origin and their cultures.A third focus will be the participation in the preparation, implementation and the follow up of youth camps in summer and winter. They will cooperate intensively with a team of experienced volunteers and youth workers of the area. For the volunteer service to become a success for all parties, we will work closely together, not only with the volunteers themselves but also with the sending organisations. Regular meetings and reviews will allow all participants to monitor progress in learning. With the project, we hope to give our partnership with the YMCA Brest a better structure. We also aim to strengthen the visibility of the European Voluntary Service and present it as an opportunity to help create an equal and democratic European society. Moreover, we would like to further open our organisation as well as the children and youth groups in the villages of the church district Öhringen on an intercultural and international level. In the long term, we hope that the cooperation with our foreign partners will become an integral and natural part of our everyday work.
