The use of historic farmsteads and their adaptation to contemporary cultural needs (Historic farmsteads)

The main issue addressed by the project is the use of historic farmsteads of the count J. Tiškevičius in Užutrakis (Lithuania) and the composer M. Oginskis in Zaliesie, Smargon (Belarus) and its adaptation to contemporary needs. The joint project and the partnership among local authorities, historians and community representatives should create a synergy of joint tourism promotion activities. The project activities aim at preservation of cultural and historical heritage, promotion of the cross-border tourism by adapting the historic farmsteads to contemporary needs, and community cooperation in Trakai and Zaliesie, Smargon. Expected Results: The project will increase the attractiveness of the common Lithuanian-Belarusian cultural-historical heritage by restoration of the concert hall in the Oginskis farmstead in Zaliesie and acquisition of the furniture and musical instruments in the manor farmsteads in Užutrakis and Zaliesie. Also, the cooperation in the field of culture will be stimulated by organising thematic concerts and conducting an international scientific conference and meetings of communities in Užutrakis and Zaliesie.
