The Third Power
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jan 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "The Third Power" will involve 40 young people from Estonia, Czech Republic, France, Italy and Slovenia who will come to Aegviidu, Estonia and will discuss the role of media in our societies and how media can increase youth participation. We as organization, together with our partners, are looking forward to this exchange. 40 young people will visit Estonia from September 22nd-29th 2014, to reflect about the role of media and become journalists themselves for a couple of days. A very important role is given to the media today and they are prerequisites of democracy. On daily basis young people receive different information and messages and they need to develop critical thinking concerning all that information. From this point, the main goal of the project "The Third Power" is developing abilities of young people. Young people are often confused by different messages coming across from media. It is very important for young people to understand how media work, be able to work with information and process the information they get. Becoming young journalists and create newspapers, short videos and journalism photos are foreseen activities of this project. The participants will be able to work in international groups, have to divide the tasks, learn how to use new tools, make interviews with local people and create together a final product. Media will be used as one tool through which young people can express their opinion. European citizenship and challenges that young people face (e.g. youth unemployment, social exclusion and marginalization, youth involvement, etc.) will be the main topic, but young people will be free to propose topics which are important for them. Abstract topics and expressing opinions about them will be enabled throughout this project. We plan to disseminate them among other youth organisations, we will display all the information about the project on the website of Together network (www.network-together.eu), young people and local communities in the partner countries. The visibility of the Erasmus+ program for youth will be also an accomplished goal through this project.
