The Host Platform is part of the ICex platform (International Cinema Exchange) and we like to refer to it as the ‘Airbnb’ of film distribution. Through the Host Platform, different kinds of hosts (websites, blogs, social networks, VOD platforms) will be able to promote and sell content directly to their specific fan base in Europe or globally, without having to deal with complex and costly licencing. By targeting different categories of hosts, we will also be able to address all kinds of audiences. Our system provides a highly secure embed player for these hosts, which can now target their fans and sell independent films, while being rewarded 28% of the price for every sale they attract. The player will look as an integral part of the host’s website. By clicking on it, the viewer will sign up to our platform, transfer money for the rent and be able to watch the film without leaving the host’s website. Hosts receive a direct 28% payment per sale to promote content and they can also decide to share their commission revenue amongst their users, allowing them to on-sell across multiple online platforms. This self-aggregating system spreads like a spiderweb, allowing independent European films to reach a vast audience across borders, languages and film markets, while consumers will have the possibility to access a variety of content where and when they want it. The Host Platform will also enrich the viewers’ experience through an innovative and participatory promotional tool called the Social Exchange Tab. Hosts can decide to apply this tool to the films they are promoting, enabling viewers to engage in an array of social interactions, such as interacting and inviting their friends through social media, commenting on the film and characters, listening to a film commentary while watching their favourite movie… The Social Exchange Tab opens up a community to film lovers and this community is in itself created by film lovers.
