The Five Elements
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jan 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The requested project started as a result of discussions between our organization and the Turkish partner after a lot older cooperations in other programs. Through these programs, we realized that we have so much in common, reaching a point eventually "" play "" a peculiar game, trying each time to discover common cultural , linguistic, etymological elements , which each time we surprised about how close we are one nation to another. This was the motivation to create this program that would eventually certify all of the above and would prove beyond a doubt that if the people ""escape"" from the political pitfalls of their own, they will realize that they can live with excellent neighborly relations. Through all this we ended design that participants should be aged between 18-26, who are at the beginning of their production age they still have not "" poisoned "" by the wrong political views, they have an open mind and they do not act in short sight. The program took place in the period 26/12/2014 - 5/1/2015, in the Centre of Fine Arts in the Municipality of Aghia Varvara. In the program took part 13 young people and 2 leaders from each partner organisation, in total 26 young people and 4 leaders. The program based on practical formal and non-formal learning in workshops, role playing games, theater games, dances. The participants had already done groundwork with the guidance of experts in each field of action (historical, linguistic similarities, theater, music, dance, cooking) so that new participants were able to handle all activities of the program. Also during the program there were participants who had already the necessary specific skills listed in program activities, playing the role of mentors and trainers in the program helping that way the leaders of the two organisations. What we expected as impact of the project was to change the mentality of young people of both countries and breaking all stereotypes that negatively affect the perception of young people, preventing them understand that what they hear and experience so many years on the neighbor country of their political mouthpiece, is a virtual reality, an illusion that does not correspond to the actual situation and the true feelings between the two nations. Finally, all participants of the program will be the ideal multipliers of these practices and disseminate the results, not only now but also in the future, conveying the message of optimism and alternative perspective of cooperation and peaceful coexistence throughout their social circle.
