"The Explorers - close to nature"
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Nov 16, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The “Exploreres - close to nature” is a youth exchange project with an ecological theme , which will be attended by the young leaders from Poland and Georgia. The idea of the common project was born during an international jamboree in Georgia in 2013, in which some of future exchange’ participants worked as volunteers . Topic of the exchange was choosen by the participants and is a result of their interests and needs observed in the local environment . The exchange will be attended by 36 people – 16 Polish and 16 Georgian participants - young leaders aged 17-25 and 4 leaders (2 from each country ). It will be held in August 2014 in Omalo in Tushetii . The aim of the project is to promote pro-environmental attitudes and principles of sustainable development - among young people and their local communities as well as among children and young people with whom participants of exchange work every day . During the exchange the participants want to gain new knowledge and skills relating to environmental protection , to improve their competence of the implementation of pro-environmental activities, exchange experiences and draw inspiration from each other (useful in environmental education, as well as in everyday work with children and youth), to gain new look at issues related to the protection of nature. Whole project will be conducted using the methods of non-formal education . Participants through participation in simulations, group work, games, workshops and common, practical action, will gain new knowledge about environmental risks and ways to protect the nature, ways to implement the principle of sustainable development, tools that can be used in environmental education, ways of "being eco" in everyday life. Using their knowledge and skills and sharing their experiences, they will organize a eco-picnic for the members of the local community. One of the products of the project will be a guide, presenting natural values of National Park of Tushetii, prepared by the participants in 3 languages (Polish, Georgian and English), ilustrated with photographs made by participants. Participants will leave behind remembrance in the local community – they will prepare (made exclusively from natural materials) designation of natural monuments in the Omalo area. The project will also bring long-term results . As the participants are youth leaders, who work every day in their organizations with children and young people, they will pass their knowledge, experience and skills, conducting workshops and implementing ecological programs with youth groups in their communities.
