The development of the economy and tourism in rural areas through the development of the horse (EQUIMEDEV)

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the sustainable development of cross-border territories of Tunisia and Italy through the development of economic sectors linked to breeding and training of the horse and the promotion of a joint offer of integrated Mediterranean tourism in rural areas. The specific objective is the development of synergies between economic sectors of breeding and training of the horse through the transfer of knowledge, best practices and new approaches and the creation of integrated equestrian itineraries to contribute to the economic development of rural areas in Tunisia and Sicily . Expected Results: The sector related to breeding and training horses and to equestrian tourism in rural areas should be strengthened and enhanced in Sicily and in Tunisia through the creation and management of a specific cross-border network.The main activities planned to achieve this result are: data collection and analysis on the use of the horse in the rural areas of the countries involved in the project and the identification of local actors; the creation of a cross-border network with the participation of key target groups; the organization of meetings to enable the participation of target groups and the creation of an interactive website.
