The Bridge
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Oct 16, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

Despite the uncountable luxuries of communication channels that we have at our disposal nowadays, our perception of ‘the other’ has been largely manipulated by those same channels, resulting in a stronger than ever religious barriers, stereotypes and prejudices. ZENITH members have participated in the organization of the “Com-unity spirit” inter-religious conference in July of 2013. Observing the fruitful discussions and debates that were held throughout the conference and their great outcome, it became clear that such experience, could be of a great value to the youth from different cultural/religious backgrounds. It would help the younger generations to deeply learn and understand more about each other. This knowledge would cross the traditional scopes of media and social networks and would rather be developed through tangible human interactions and team building spirit. Graz can offer a perfect spot for hosting this exchange program as a model city where a daily open dialogue between different cultures and religions became more of a tradition to its people. Using our network along our expertise we combined what we see a perfect diverse group of organizations from different countries, where religion played different roles in each country. This would ensure a dialogue between the participants hence building a bridge of knowledge for each individual and for the groups as a collective. 30 young participants from Austria, Egypt, Georgia, Ireland, Lebanon and Turkey with different religious backgrounds and a special interest in the topic would spend 9 days together in common program designed to raise their awareness gradually about current religion co-existence issues in those countries, by the end they will participate in a parliament simulation to tackle those co-existence issues with fresh innovative solutions whilst they are building a personal connection amongst each other teaching them teamwork, communication skills and much more. After the Projects' execution, every partner will host an event in their own country to show a video about the event and to transmit a clearer image of the "other" to their communities/societies, a press release with the youths' innovative approaches will be posted on the projects' page and will be propagated to the world.
