Start date: Dec 31, 2014, End date: Dec 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project THE ART AS TEACHING TOOL, which is prepared by Zespol Szkol Ogolnoksztalcacych in Suchej Beskidzkiej, supports the professional development of teachers. A challenge that every school faces is teaching young people in such a way that its' graduates could easily find themselves in modern world. One of the condition of a school being a good school are well-educated teachers. To achieve that, a school cannot work alone in isolation, it must work with other people working in the name of education and look for connections, including the international ones, that will be a source of new experiences. Improving the teacher's competences is a permanent duty of a school as an institution, but also every teacher. The work of a teacher is hard and requires responsibility. Mindful of the tasks before them, teachers are searching for methods individualized for every student, choose methods adequate for the talented students, for those with special learning needs, chronically ill, with dysfunctions, disabled and with communication problems. They eagerly use trusty methods and participate in various courses. The ability to use artistic mediums (elements of theater, music, dance, visual arts and others)will allow the teacher to increase the attractiveness and efficiency of activities which they do in their teaching. The use of these tools, typical for the art, may become more common than it is today. It is widely recognized that this only applies to the arts and humanities. However elements of these methods can be successfully used regardless of the subject taught. In this context, it is necessary to organize such activities that give teachers with knowledge on the subject and will be a chance of improving these skills. This process requires the support of the implementation of organized activities that are planned in the project. The goal of the project is to build a team 10 teachers who have experience in creating innovative ways of working and want to share their professional experience and jointly seek inspiration for further improvement. Teachers who implement ambitious Copyright ways of working with the student, looking for contacts which give an opportunity for professional development, are open to confront their positive experiences with others and willing to take part in activities which are sources of new experiences and which can and want to share with other new skills. The project was initiated by Zespó? Szkó? Ogólnokszta?c?cych in Sucha Beskidzka. Activities of the project are divided into three stages. The first stage is the recruitment of teachers to the project according to specific criteria; organizing and conducting substantive meetings with experts in various fields related thematically to the project; exchange of professional experiences between the participants of the project and implementation of actions to prepare for departure to training abroad (language, culture). The next stage is taking part in the abroad course, during which the participants will be observing in a few different professional institutions, classes managed with the use of artistic methods of learning, taking part in lectures and discussions with people employed in said institutions. The last stage, after coming back from the courses, will focus on compiling and publishing the materials gathered during the courses by the participants, and preparing scenarios of classes based on gathered materials. Those classes will be held for the teachers in schools in which the project's participants teach and in other schools which interested in problems of project. Implementation of the project will lead to increasing knowledge and occupational competences, linguistic skills, increase in the faith in themselves, and feeling of satisfaction about managing difficult situations and comparing their experiences to others' experiences in the participants. Schools will be seen as an institution that implements activities leading to the bettering of teachers. Effects and the results of the project will be a good example to others thinking about taking up such activities. The findings from evaluating the project will be included in the plan of the school's development, and after making them available will be used by other, interested schools. The group of teachers participating in the project will be closely working together even after finishing the project, will give supporting all the teachers looking for effective and interesting teaching solutions. Zespol Szkol Ogolnoksztalcacych in Sucha Beskidzka has experiences in the implementation various form of teachers activities and provides support for participants in all of their actions.
